2018 Poppy Fund Campaign Audit Report Once
again, a number of dedicated volunteers from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch
36 Dundas, as well as volunteers from our community have made up Poppy boxes
and delivered them to stores to display. At the same time, they have given up their
time to stand and take donations from people in Dundas, Ancaster, Westdale and the
Meadowlands to support our charity.
Each
year we’re asked where this money goes and I feel because of their generosity,
they should be informed. The following are
the areas that the money we collected were given during the period from October
1st, 2017 to September 30th, 2018. This is the most recent year that we have
completed.
Our
income for the year totaled $82,926.05
Cost
of supplies $16,813.61
Support
of local Sea, Army, Air cadet groups $ 9,000.00
Juravinski
Cancer Clinic $15,000.00
St.
Joseph’s Villa
$15,000.00
Belec
University Scholarship Bursaries $ 2,000.00
Salvation
Army (Food Bank & Drop-In) $ 4,000.00
Nursing
& Retirement Homes $ 9,491.58
Support
of Veterans $ 9,999.20
Bank
Charges $ 230.82
Starting
on December 14th, 2018 - 192 poinsettia plants were delivered to Veterans and/or
widows who reside in retirement and nursing homes. Needless to say, they enjoyed being remembered
at this time of year.
Our
total expenditures during this period totaled $81,535.21
