Colour Party Report - May 2017

On March 5th the Branch 36 Colour Party had the honour of presenting the colours at the Honours and Awards and Ladies Auxiliary awards Luncheon.  A special presentation took place after the luncheon, at which the Colour Party presented our own Geoff Hodgson with a Royal Canadian Legion Canada 150 medal for his long and excellent service to the Colour Party.

Our Colour Party always has openings for new members.  A few extra members would make it easier in case of illness or unavailability.  Training and help getting uniforms will be provided.  At the moment Branch 36 has an Award winning unit and wed like to make sure we keep it that way.

Colour Party Report - February 2017

Our Colour Party always has openings for new members. A few extra members would make it easier in case of illness or unavailability. Training and help getting uniforms will be provided. At the moment Dundas has an Award winning unit and wed like to make sure we keep it that way.

Colour Party Report - November 2016

On 18th August the Colour Party took part in the Dundas Cactus Festival Parade.  On October 2nd the Colour Party attended the Legion convention in St.Catharines with the hopes of attending a Colour Party competition.  Due to excessive rain, the competition was cancelled and an indoor service took place.   Although we missed out taking part in the competition, we all enjoyed ourselves and the day.  The rain of course stopped as soon as the indoor service was completed.

Our Colour Party always has openings for new members.  A few extra members would make it easier in case of illness or unavailability.  Training and help getting uniforms will be provided.  At the moment our Dundas Branch 36 Colour Party has an award winning unit and wed like to keep it that way.

Colour Party Report - August 2016

Colour Party Report - May 2016

On March 5th the Colour Party presented the colours for the Honour and Awards Dinner.  Greg Sherring received a Certificate of Appreciation for his work on the Poppy Fund

Jim Byron, Colour Party Commander was presented with a sculpture by the Colour Party members as a thanks for his efforts with the Colour Party.

On March 29th 6 members of the Colour Party attended a Zone B meeting and presented the colours.

Instead of a practice on December 8th we had a Christmas Party to share our favourite moments and celebrate the season.

Colour Party Report - August 2015

The Colour Party attended Church Parade on June 7th and with the addition of 9 members of the cadet corps we were able to field a Colour Party of 15.

The Colour Party attended the funeral of Bill Taylor on July 30th with 4 members attending.

We are all looking forward to the Cactus Festival.

Branch 36 has an Award winning unit and wed like to make sure we keep it that way.

Colour Party Report - May 2015

On February 24th the Colour Party provided Zone with their services during opening ceremonies. At this meeting I was asked to take over the duties of Sgt.-at-Arms for the Zone which I accepted.

On March 7th the Colour Party provided their services for opening ceremonies for the Branch 36 Honours and Awards dinner.

Our Colour Party always has openings for new members. Training and help getting uniforms will be provided. At the moment Dundas has one of the better units and wed like to make sure we keep it that way.

Colour Party Report - February 2015

On November 11th the Colour Party had 7 members who attended the Remembrance Day Ceremony. The parade was augmented by members of the Navy, Army and Airforce cadet corps. For the first time we paraded the American flag.

Our Colour Party always has openings for new members. Training and help getting uniforms will be provided. At the moment Dundas has one of the better units and wed like to make sure we keep it that way.

Colour Party Report - November 2014

On August 14th the Colour Party had members who attended the Cactus Festival and rode on our Legion float in the parade.  A good time was had by all !

On September 9th the Colour Party had its first practice for the new year.  We had been asked to provide the Colour Party for the Zone B convention taking place at Branch 163 on October 4th and 5th.

On October 4th and 5th the Colour Party participated in opening and closing ceremonies for the Zone B convention, which took place at Branch 163 (Limeridge).  In a competition that took place at the convention the Branch 36 Colour Party won Best Colour Party Overall and Best Marching Unit Overall.

Our Colour Party always has openings for new members.  Training and help getting uniforms will be provided.  At the moment Dundas has one of the better Colour Party units and wed like to make sure we keep it that way.

Our next practices will be on Tuesday evening October 14th at 7:00pm and Tuesday evening November 4th at 7:00pm.

Colour Party Report - August 2014

On June 1st 6 members of the Colour Party participated in the Branch 36 Church Parade.  We were joined with 6 members of the Sea cadets and Air cadets.  We are also pleased to announce that Tony Bratschitch has joined as a member of the Colour Party.

As with most things, many hands make light work.  Our Colour Party always has openings for a few new members.  Training and help getting uniforms will be provided.  At the moment our Legion branch has one of the better Colour Party units in the Hamilton area and wed like to make sure we keep it that way.

Colour Party Report - May, 2014

On March 8th, 7 members of the Colour Party were proud to take part in the Honours and Awards ceremony that took place upstairs in the Branch.

We have been invited to participate in the Allan Cup ceremony on April 14th as well as the 69th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands taking place at St. Elizabeth Village at 10:45 am on May 5th.

Our next practices will be held Tuesday, April 8th at 7:00pm and Tuesday May 13th at 7:00pm.

Colour Party Report - February, 2014

On November 11th the Colour Party was proud to take part in the Remembrance Day parade.  Eight members joined 9 of our cadets and veterans in representing our Branch.

Thanks to very generous donations made to our fund raiser on Remembrance Day, we were able to purchase additional equipment for the Colour Party.  We purchased 5 new flag poles with appropriate tops and a new sling.  We are also in the process of having new shoulder flashes made.

As some of you may already know, our Colour Party is sometimes requested to provide our services for others.  We have been asked to parade at the Quad Arena on Mohawk Road.  Some of the hockey games are between Canadian and American teams, and with that in mind we have purchased a fringed American Flag with an Eagle standard for it.

Colour Party Report - November 2013

On August 15th  the Colour Party was proud to take part in the Dundas Cactus Festival parade.  Seven members joined our Navy cadets and veterans on the Branch 36 Legion float.

On August 25th, five members of our Colour Party took part in a Remembrance service that took place at Eastlawn Cemetery to honour our Naval Veterans.  We joined with Colour Parties from Branch 58 (Barton Street.),163(Hamilton Mountain and 622 (Stoney Creek).

Colour Party Report - August 2013

On June 2nd 8 members of the Colour Party as well as 9 members of the 3 different cadet corps, paraded for our Church Parade making for a very nice presentation. On June 23rd we paraded at and Branch 662. It was nice to have participation of the other branches.

Our next official meeting will be upstairs at 7:00pm on September 13th. As always we welcome anyone who would be interested in joining the Colour Party and assistance will be given to anyone requiring a uniform. We need new members to help fill our ranks for Remembrance Day and D-Day Church Parades.

Colour Party Report - April 2013

On March 2nd the Colour Party attended the Honours & Award dinner and took part in the opening and closing ceremonies.

Colour Party Report - February 2013

On December 24th the Colour Party sold tickets for a draw that helped us pay for 3 new flags and other equipment that we required.

On January 13, 2013 seven members paraded in downtown Hamilton in honour of the 198th birthday of Sir John A. Macdonald, Canada’s first Prime Minister.

As always we welcome anyone interested in joining the Colour Party and assistance will be given to anyone requiring a uniform.

Colour Party Report - November 2012

On Thursday, August 16th members of the Colour Party rode on the Legion float in the Cactus Festival Parade.  Those on the float had a great time representing the Branch.  It�s our hope that next year more members from the Branch will be available to ride on the float.

On Tuesday, September 18th we 6 members of the Colour Party and the Colour Party Commander attended the General Meeting to present the Colours and welcome new members to the Branch.  We are looking forward to providing help on the Poppy Campaign.

Colour Party Report - August, 2012

On Sunday June the 3rd, 7 members of the Colour Party attended Church Parade along

with 9 members of the cadet corps.  The addition of the cadet corps was a welcome addition.  It has been brought to my attention that the Colour Party from Branch 163 has been disbanded due to a lack of participation from Branch members.  I hope that our Branch will not have this happen.  If you are capable of carrying a flag we could use your assistance.  Many hands make light work!

On Saturday June 23rd, 4 members of the Colour party were joined with 7 members of Stoney Creek Branch to present the Colours at the Zone B Sports day which took place at the Mohawk Sports Park in Hamilton. 

As always we welcome anyone who would be interested in joining the Colour Party and assistance will be given to anyone requiring a uniform.
