ZONE B6 MEETING MINUTES
A Zone Meeting was held at Branch 36 Dundas on Tuesday, February 24, 2015.
Opening Ceremonies were conducted by Branch 36 1st Vice President, Comrade Doug Rivers.
The Meeting opened at 7:30 p.m.
The Roll was called. All Branches were represented.
MOTION to deviate from the Agenda was passed.
MINUTES:
The Minutes were adopted as circulated.
CORRESPONDENCE
Comrade John Murphy received a very important letter from Dominion Command.
In the first part the Chairman of Rituals stated that as an initiate used to be presented with his/her badge and a copy of the General By-Laws. They are no longer available so the new ceremony omits the presentation of the manual.
The second part of the letter is from the President, Comrade Tom Eagles and concerns changes to the operation of Dominion Command. Various cost-cutting measures are being instituted.
Comrade John gave every Branch a copy of this missive. It is incumbent on each Branch President to familiarize their executive of its content. It is important!
If a Branch does not have a copy please contact the Secretary and she will email a copy to you.
ZONE COMMANDERS REPORT
Comrade Zone Commander, John Murphy reported:
The Zone hosted the District B financial seminar sponsored by District G at Branch 60 on January 31. Around 100 people attended but it was disappointing to have only 4 of our branches represented. The seminar was informative and gave those who attended lots of information.
We need to set up a formal calendar for those who will run the Branch elections.
The District Convention will be held March 27, 28, 29. This puts our Zone election meeting ahead one week to MARCH 23 AT BRANCH 58.
The District election is in Brampton and is an election meeting. Traditionally if you carry 5 votes because of your membership numbers then you have 5 votes. Past Zone Commander, Comrade Jim Chesterfield is running for District Chairman. PLEASE ATTEND AND SUPPORT HIM. There will be a Membership Seminar on the Saturday which is very worthwhile.

Comrade Robert Watson sent a detailed report which the secretary thought was worth reporting in full. Please note the attachment.
MEMBERSHIP
Comrade Joyce Brown stated that she was disappointed that Command is not keeping up with the statistical reports to the Branches. They are not keeping up with remittances. Her Branch sends in remittances every 2 weeks and 8 reports are outstanding. It is disappointing to have to tell members (especially new ones) that their cards have not come.
Comrade Joyce warned that Branches must keep up with their reports and not get behind at the Branch level.
Comrade Joyce noted that she hoped that all branches will send delegates to this convention. Also make sure that the delegate forms are sent back to command.
PRO
Comrade Peter Whittaker reported :
1) Added Meeting Minutes of last Zone meeting held at Branch 622 in Stoney Creek in November 2014 to the Zone web site.

All Branches were represented. 25 were present for the Meeting.
SPORTS
Comrade Garry Spears reported that Zone Sports began in January and he will have a more complete report at the March Meeting.
TRAINING AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
YOUTH EDUCATION
Comrade Jackie Ralston was absent. In her place the Secretary noted that the Poster and Literary Contest is at the Provincial Level and she will have a report when the information is available. There is unfortunately Public Speaking at Branch 60 only so the winners will advance directly to District.
L.A. REPORT
Comrade Jackie Ralston was absent. The Secretary reported that the Zone inspections are complete and now the Zone is engaged in a round of Birthday Banquets and Honours and Awards. There is a Zone Meeting and Fun Day on Sunday, March 22 with the meeting at 11a.m., lunch to follow, then fun, fun, fun.
BURSARIES
Comrade Jackie Ralston was absent. There was a meeting in January and will be another at the District Convention.
WAYS AND MEANS
Comrade Wilma Becker stated that $102.00 was raised at the November Meeting at Branch 622.

GENERAL AND NEW BUSINESS
Please send the secretary the list of your veterans who have passed away since September. Please include any Ladies Auxiliary veterans as well. I MUST HAVE THE LIST SO I CAN ORGANIZE AND SEND IT WITH THE ZONE COMMANDER.
No sponsor is needed for new membership.
It was suggested that we might change the Zone Council to just a meeting of Presidents as Council seems to have fewer and fewer people coming out.
The next Meeting will be at on MONDAY, MARCH 23 AT BRANCH 58 AT 7:30P.M.
