ZONE B MEETING MINUTES
A Zone Meeting was held on Monday, May 27, 2013.
The Meeting opened at 7:35 p.m.
The Roll was called. All Branches were represented.
MOTION to deviate from the Agenda was passed.

The Minutes were adopted as circulated.
CORRESPONDENCE
There is a specific procedure for MOTION OF AMENDMENT TO BRANCH REGULATIONS.
If you have questions about the procedure you may ask the Zone Commander or the Secretary. Ontario Command is also very good at answering these questions.
1. We are complete our term of office and the new Executive will take the lead from here on in. I would like to thank the entire Executive that have supported me for the past 4 years and extend my best to the success of our new Executive. I would also like to thank all the Branches for the hospitality they have extended to Sharon and me as well over this term in office.
2. Branch regulations, to date we have 4 Branches that have had them accepted. Three Branches have theirs in for approval. Please forward a copy to John once Command approves them so we have a copy on file for the Branch Elections. Then we can also file a copy with District.
3. B6 Zone directory updates please ensure a copy of your new executive is forwarded to Jane and John. The names, addresses, phone numbers and E-Mail info is required so we can update the directory and ensure they receive copies of the Meeting Minutes etc.
4. John will still need the Presidents report every quarter for the next 2 years, (Which should include a L.A. update as well) prior to District Council and Convention meetings. He will require this to give a meaningful report on our Zones activities. We are going to carry on with the practice of reading out the names of Veterans who passed away between District Conventions. The dates for these are Dec., March, June and Sept. The response last time for the Convention was terrible, as did not hear from 5 Branches in time to include them in my report.
5. We are hosting 2 District events in June so please try to attend if possible. They are Horseshoes in Waterdown on the 22nd and Track and Field (at Mohawk Sports Park) on the 23rd.
6. The next District Convention is in Brantford on Sept.27 – 29th so please get your complete Executive to attend, this were they learn about what is going on.
ZONE COMMANDERS REPORT
Comrade Zone Commander John Murphy stated that Comrade Jim Chesterfield would be treasurer for the coming term.
He stated that, as has been the habit this past term, the Presidents would provide the Zone Commander reports on their Branches four times a year—December, March, June and September. This report will include the notices of past Ordinary Members who have passed away and a similar report from the Ladies Auxiliary.

Comrade Joyce Brown stated that all Branches will have received notice of all who have not renewed their membership for the past 2 years.

Comrade Peter Whittaker stated that he is creating an Events page on the web site. More news about the web site to follow in September.

SERGEANT @ ARMS
Comrade Rick Valois will be the new Sergeant At Arms.
Thank you to Comrade Bill Eisan for his many years of valuable service.

SPORTS
Comrade Garry Spears reported that that the Sports Programme is completed for 2013. He will be holding a meeting of all Zone Sports Officers in the early autumn.
For Provincial Track and Field one qualifies through District.
TRAINING AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Comrade John Mattocks was absent.
YOUTH EDUCATION
Comrade Jackie Ralston had no report.
L.A. REPORT
Comrade Jackie Ralston stated that all L.A. elections have been completed.
WAYS AND MEANS
Comrade Wilma Becker reported $131.00 was raised for the good of the Legion.

GENERAL AND NEW BUSINESS
There will be no competition for Youth Darts at the Zone Level.
The age of the Youth competitor is 18 “as of September 1”. Changes should be made to this.
Zone Commander John Murphy thanked Comrade Jim Chesterfield for his dedicated work as Zone Commander and wished him well in his new endeavour as Chairman at District.
