ZONE B MEETING MINUTES
A Zone Meeting was held on Monday, November 25, 2012 at Branch 58. The Opening Ceremonies were conducted by the Branch President, Doug Atkinson.
The Meeting opened at 7:40p.m.
The Roll was called. All Branches were present.
MOTION to deviate from the agenda was accepted.

The Minutes were adopted with a correction as circulated. The Meeting date was October 30. It should read “inspect Poppy Trust Fund Activity”

Question: Has anybody counted the Nevada tickets to see if the correct number came in?

ZONE COMMANDER’S REPORT
1. We are well into our Annual visits and Branch Audits, I have handed each President a copy of the audit so please ensure the data required is available when we arrive as most are not prepared. If the 2 Branches left to audit did not get a copy see me after the meeting.
2. Remembrance Day was a great success with most Branches seeing one of the largest crowds yet. The weather could not have been better.
3. The Poppy campaign went well with again most Branches bettering last year even though many more volunteers would suffice.
4. Branch regulations have been reviewed and memos from Brain have been sent to all Branches in our Zone with requests for changes. To date only 1 Branch has had them accepted, Branch 315and 3 more have resubmitted there Regulations in the past month. There are new forms out at the end of the October so the 3 branches left to resubmit please use the new forms date Sept.30 2012. Please let me know the status at your Branch and forward a copy to me so we have them on file for the Branch Elections. Once they are approved please let me know so I can file a copy with District.
5. B6 Zone directory updates , any changes in your executive including people added please send Jane and myself the names, addresses, phone numbers and E-Mail info so we can update the directory. If you see any mistakes also let me know.
6. I am requesting a Presidents report every quarter for the next 2 years, (Which should include a L.A. update as well) prior to District Council and Convention meetings. I require this to give a meaningful report on our Zones activities. We are also going to carry on with the practice of reading out names of Veterans who passing away between District Conventions. The dates for these where in the last meeting minutes that is Dec., March, June and Sept. So please prepare it for me by Dec15 for my next report. The response this time was terrible as did not hear from 5 Branches in time to include them in my report.
7. The has been a directive from Dominion Command that each formal complaint should be accompanied with a cheque for $100.00. Provincial command is dealing with this.
8. Branch surveys are not completed in most of our Branches yet. Please let me know who has sent them in?
9. Resolutions supported at PEC meeting to go to Provincial Convention in May are: 1. Snooker back to 15 red balls 2. Poppy stock storage internal 200 sq. feet @ $7= $1400
external 200 sq. feet @ $3.50 = $700
3. Public speaking penalties to add freeze time of 4 seconds.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
POPPY
Comrade Robert Watson thanked all the volunteers for their hard work to make the Poppy Campaign successful. He noted that the two months before and after were also very busy months to organize, execute and report the activity of the Poppy Campaign.
Please remind the Branch President to sign the Poppy Trust Report and ensure its accuracy. Please forward these by November 30.
Please report the LCBO, Beer Store contributions to Comrade Robert Watson by Dec. 15.
The matter of donating Poppy Funds for a monument has been referred to Dominion Command.
Please let the members of your Branch your plans to support our Veterans. Be sure to include elevator maintenance and cadet support.
MEMBERSHIP
Comrade Joyce Brown urged the Branch membership committees to keep up their remittances to Command.
According to the membership site no branch from our Zone will make 100% renewal. Branch 60 is closest with 98%. 3 Branches are within 90%. Our Zone has only 20% renewal for 2013 dues.
Hopefully, that will improve as the year closes.

Zone B6 Public Relations Report – Peter Whittaker – 26th November, 2012
1) Added additional District Meetings to meeting schedule for 2013-2014 – still need locations for these meetings – memo sent to Jim Chesterfield.
2) Added copy of October Zone meeting minutes to Zone web site.
3) Updated the Zone website. Rebuilt page of events occurring at Zone B6 branches. Information was listed for the following Branches:
Branch 36 Dundas
Branch 58 Barton Street
Branch 60 Burlington,
Branch 551 Waterdown
using their websites as source material.
Added some Branch 163 recurring events that were present on the Cable14 website.
Other Branches either did not have web sites, or their web sites did not have material easily
accessible about their scheduled events.
4) If Branch Executives would view this page they can use the format listed below to add events taking place at their branch to this page.
Format: Weekday, Date, Event name, time and details, name of Branch holding the event, along with its street address.
Example: Friday, 7th December - Fun Dart Tournament 6:30 pm – Fun and Prizes – open to all $5 entry fee at 6pm at Branch 551, 79 Hamilton Street North, Waterdown.

5) Who can get details of Training Events held by the Legion? Adding a page to the website to publicize Training Events would be helpful to area Branch Presidents who would like to use these valuable resources for training of their Branch Executive members.
6) Please view our Zone web site and if you have something you would like to see on this site please let me know. If no one gives me suggestions to add to the site then they won’t get added.

YOUTH EDUCATION
Comrade Jackie Ralston stated that the budget for Youth Education is usually $2400.00 but $1800.00 was spent and she felt all that was needed this year.

Comrade Jackie Ralston is making her Branch L.A. visits now. All is well in the L.A.
