"The Bullytin"

Back

"The Bullytin" is the name of the Valley Town Branch 36 newsletter.

The term is old but did it did not start out describing a newsletter.

In the 1914-1918 war, allied soldiers in the trenches were fed Bully Beef (now known as tinned corned beef).  The tins containing the Bully Beef became known as Bully-tins.

The Bully tins were one of the few sources of meat fed to the front line troops.

It was with this in mind that Royal Canadian Legion's Valley Town Branch 36 decided to name their Branch newsletter "The Bullytin", maybe not as a source of nourishment, but still a source of news to Branch 36 members where they could learn about events past, present and future that occur at the Branch.

The Bullytin has been entered in the Royal Canadian Legion's newsletter contest.

The first time it was entered it won as the best newsletter in its District.

The second time it was entered it again won as the best newsletter in its District, and also went onto win a silver award in the Provincial contest.

It is hoped that we will continue to enter the Legion's newsletter contests and with the assistance of all comrades at Branch 36 provide interesting, current information for all Branch 36 members.
